Thrift With Me
November 4, 2023
I found this French jardiniere at a little antique store. It was piled high with plastic Christmas ornaments and I noticed there was no bottom! Also, no price tag. I removed the Christmas ornaments and picked it up. It is about 12-1/4 inches long x 5 inches wide, solid and HEAVY; no scratches and no breaks.
I checked with the clerk and immediately used Google to come up with a picture search. I found a similar one (here) on Etsy for $115.00. The clerk called the vendor and sent a picture. After less than five minutes she came back with a price of $6. I said, “sold.” A lady behind me was drooling over it as I purchased it. She asked how much and when I told her $6, she turned a lovely shade of green. 😉
I’m really excited to see what I can do with it. Mine is missing the liner, but for now I will just cut some floral foam to fit for the bottom and will be putting an artificial arrangement in it for Christmas. After the new year and when we are all much less busy, my brother will be 3D printing a replacement for the waterproof container that would go in the bottom. Because that’s what brothers do. 😍
Here’s a little update of what I finally did with the jardiniere!
